Palma de Mallorca Airport Transfers & Taxis

At Palma de Mallorca Airport, the taxi rank is directly outside the terminal building, close to the arrivals hall exit. It is well signposted from inside the terminal. Official taxis are white with a stripe on the front doors. Never allow yourself to be talked into travelling in an unofficial vehicle as, apart from the obvious dangers, they are unlicensed and you might not be insured.

All of the official taxis are fitted with a meter and the rates are set by the government. If you are travelling further afield, you can ask for a set price before you get in. Also, the taxi companies offer tours around the island or to certain attractions for which they offer a fixed price.

Most taxi drivers only take payment in cash, although some now have the facility to accept credit or debit card payments. You would need to check with the driver before travelling or phone to request this facility if it is needed.

The majority of drivers are honest, but the occasional unscrupulous one might take a circuitous route to your destination to increase the fare. If you know or suspect that this has happened, make sure that you get a receipt and lodge a complaint with the company.

The standard taxis can only take four passengers, but seven-seat vehicles can be requested, by phone or online, although there is no guarantee that one will be available. There are two set tariffs. The tariff used will depend on the time and day of travel.

• Tariff 1 - This is for journeys between 07:00 and 21:00, Monday to Friday.
  • Charge at pick up - €2.10
  • Minimum fare - €3.00
  • Price per km - €0.88
  • Waiting time per hour - €17.70
• Tariff 2 – This is applicable between 21:00 and 07:00, Monday to Friday. Also on Saturdays, Sundays, festivals and certain times over the Christmas and New Year.
  • Charge at pick up – €2.45
  • Minimum fare - €4.00
  • Price per km – €1.10
  • Waiting time per hour - €20.15

Supplements

Journeys to and from the airport and port incur additional supplements. There is also a supplement for the number of suitcases. The additional fees are as follows:

• Journeys beginning and ending at the airport - €2.90
• Journeys beginning and ending at the port - €2.90
• Each item of luggage - €0.65
• Radio call out (telephone for taxi) - €1.05
• Minimum fare for journeys from the airport - €13.00

Please note that there is no supplement for small bags, wheelchairs, pushchairs or guide dogs.

Private Transfers

It is often cheaper and more convenient to book a private transfer from the airport to your accommodation, and the return journey, in advance online. The driver holding up a sign with your name will meet you in the arrivals hall. The vehicle will be appropriate for the number of people in your party and you will be taken directly to the address of your accommodation. The price will be fixed and paid in advance.

A variation on this service is a shared transfer. This is also booked and paid for in advance, but you will be sharing the vehicle with a number of other people. There might be several stops on the way to your destination as other passengers can be dropped off first; making it slower, but it is cheaper than a private transfer. A shared transfer will generally only stop at hotels and complexes but not private addresses.

It is a legal requirement that all vehicles and drivers operating this service are licenced, so this is a safe means of transport.
